I noticed that the Rock river has roads that follow both sides of it pretty much the whole way from Rockford to Moline. Have any of you from the area ridden the length of it, and is it a good ride or is it pretty much featureless?

If I were closer I'd just ride it and find out myself, but....... If its a good putt, even at my distance I'd want to come up and do it. Where exactly are the grounds of the Rock River Riders Club? It sounds like there must be at least one hill along the route.

For the most part the ride along the river is very nice on either side. There are mostly winding roads and small towns. It is far from featureless.

The Rock River Riders clubgrounds is not near the river though. They are located about 5 miles east of Polo, IL directly across from the main entrance to White Pines State Park.

Another good ride are the roads along the Illinois River. One of my favorites is Il rte 26 which starts near Peoria and runs northerly along the east side of the Illinois. Great road without much traffic.

Thanks Mark. Sounds like it could be worth making some kind of club ride out of it.
