Lets start a thread of favorite rides in IL and surrounding regions. I'll start with one of mine.
Pittsfield South to Golden Eagle Ferry:
I just got back from one of my more favored rides in central Illinois, which is South from Pittsfield off I72 through the region where the Illinois and Mississippi rivers come together. This time I did it with a friend who rides a BMW R100 RS, and we hadn't ridden together for several years. The area looks more like SW Wisconsin than the usual central IL fare. I'm always reminded of the last ice age whenever I do this ride. The ancient flood plain created by both rivers is huge in this area. As usual, we encountered floods of Harley owners from the St. Louis area crossing the ferrys at Golden Eagle and Brussels to ride the hilly stuff. Total mileage from Decatur and back was about 390. I did the same ride after the AOR open house too, on Sunday after spending the night with Keith from Chillicothe.

Me and my buddy switched bikes for much of the ride. His comment about the Vic was that he was surprised by how stable and controlable the thing felt.
