I'm planning a long putt this Saturday and Sunday along the Illinois and Rock Rivers, which I've never explored, and NE Iowa which I know well. The current plan is to ride 26 from Peoria to Dixon, up the Rock River on the East bank to Rockford back down the West bank to Sterling and then accross to Clinton, IA where I'll spend the night. I'll ride to Maquoketa on 136 (great road!) on Sunday and then do backroads between there and Dubuque before heading home through Galena and Hanover.
It'll be a lot of saddle time, but if anyone wants to join me in somewhere along the way, suggest a meeting place. I'm open to changes if someone knows a cooler route. I figure I won't reach Peoria from Decatur until 9:30 AM Saturday.
Current predictions are dry and mild for both days.
