Saturday morning I noticed Dave's calendar posting about the above event and decided to ride there. Couldn't manage to meet up with anyone, but what a fantastic weekend of racing and twisty roads it was. I spent Saturday night in Maquoketa then did the backroads North to McGregor on Sunday, and back down the East side through Galena to Mt. Carol and home to Decatur -- 782 miles in all.
Chris Carr took the big event and Johnny Murphree took 6th on a bike fielded by Coziahr's, the local dealer here in Decatur. This was the first National dirt track race at Farley Speedway, and chances are there will be more since attendance was good and the riders liked the track.
This could be turned into a great annual ride for the NIVR. The location is perfect for collecting riders from all of Illinois, and it can be turned into a weekend of top-shelf riding!
