Disaster Relief

Continuing the charitable nature of the NIVR I wish to donate $50.00 in the name of the NIVR for disaster relief.

Anyone else in???

I will send the money to whomever the NIVR board designates. Maybe Tim might want to get the VMC involved as a VMC club donation? I haven't seen any posts there relating to this.

Good Tim...We feel very strongly about events that alter and possibly destroy people's lives no matter where they may be..hence the $50.00 amount, which isn't much everything considered but may seem to be too much to some.

Everyone please contribute whatever you feel is appropriate.

Mark and others, I would just like to add that if a need to post your mailing address to a message ever arrises, supplying it as an uploaded image would be a relatively secure way.....secure from web robots and indexing, that is.

Just an FYI. The wife was notified at the bank to be on the lookout for scam agencies collecting for the relief fund. My employer posted the address listed below this morning for more info. We've already made a donation through the local Rotary Foundation. (The wife's a member)

Who/when do we as a club wish to donate? My first thought was to the Red Cross but I feel being a club we should have a consensus. Thoughts???

I seem to recall that the Red Cross got a lot of bad press for the way they handled post September 11. Donations went into their "General Fund" (which is also used to pay salaries) rather than directly to victims. Something to consider.
