I've got some burnt goo on one of my heat shields and none of the usual remedies are even dissolving it. I've tried riding the bike for an hour and using a clean, wet cloth trying to break it up. No good. I've tried goo gone on a cold pipe. No good. :( I've tried bug and tar remover. No good. Right now I'm trying dish soap. So far, no good.

I don't know exactly what the goo is but I think it may be pine sap. I'm finding the garage beams are dripping the stuff now that its hotter than the devil's ankles. Anyone got any suggestions??

Try WD-40. Spray it on and let it sit until the goo softens. Repeat if needed. It will probably take some effort, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't work.

Good luck

WD-40 did not work

But, I did find something that did. Bar Keepers Friend.
Yep, make it nice and pasty, let it sit on the burnt goo for 3-5 minutes, and then using a clean, wet cloth apply copius amounts of elbow grease. Took about 10 minutes but it all came off and no scratches. The paste works really well on vertical surfaces, like pipes.

:leftgun: [burnt goo] :rightgun:

IF IT HAPPENDS AGAIN JUST USE A LITTLE OVEN CLEANER. LET THE PIPES HEAT UP FOR A FEW MINUTES, THEN HIT IT WITH THE CLEANER. BE CAREFUL, IT IS A LITTLE OF A PAIN TO GET IT OFF PAINT.

I use a brass blade as brass is softer it wont scratch and takes but a few passes of the brass edge and its all gone. Ues a thin brass edge to do this.
