Welcome Basgetar,

I was down in your neck of the woods a couple of Sundays ago. One of my favorite rides is rte 26 down the east side of the river to Peoria and then rte 29 back north. I came through the edge of town on rte 29. It sounds like there will be a good turn out at the Victory ride on May 10.

They're calling for excellent weather this weekend, is anyone up for a ride? I still have 230 break in miles to go on the new scooter. I was considering a loop up through Galena and Dubuque, but I would be open to any other ideas.

Suday is supposed to be a great day. I will be going to the Highland House in the morning and then maybe take a dry run for the VRA ride. let me know if anyone would like to get together.

Mark I took the liberty of moving April 26-27 weekend ride talk to this new thread. Hope nobody minds.

I like that Galena/Dubuque idea a lot, and Hwy 52 South from Dubuque and then cross the river at Sabula would be a good return route. I could meet you in Sterling. Were you thinking about Saturday or Sunday?

What about you basgetar?

Rte 52 is beautiful from Dubuque to Sabula, and the backroads from Mt. Carroll to Galena are even better. Saturday works for me. Any suggestions on where and when to hook up.

Verrrry tempting even though I had out-patient surgery today on a part of my body that would make it rough. Recovery will be seem longer knowing I could be riding. HAVE FUN!

How does meeting at the Red Apple Restaurant in Sterling sound, a few blocks North of Douglas & Frey, say 8 AM? I can do it either day. We haven't heard from Frank yet about Saturday.

I was thinking the same place. 8:00 am is OK, and Saturday or Sunday are both open. I can go with whatever the majority wants to do.

I vote for Saturday. That would mean I'd come up this evening and probably stay in one of the motels at the South end of Rock Falls.

I kind of like the idea of Saturday as well. That way anyone who wants to meet Frank on Sunday for that dry run of the VRA ride can do so.

Steve, I imagine you need to leave soon if you are coming tonight. Haven't heard back from everyone yet. So if you want, come on up & whoever can make it will be there I guess.

Should be a great day. I'll be at the Rock Falls Holiday Inn, just in case I oversleep or something.

See ya tomorrow at 8.

It was nice seeing you all again on this ride. There was a scene on this ride that I wish I had a picture of. It occurred when I was following you two on Stagecoach Road. Two Vic riders stuck behind a milk truck, passing a "curvy ahead" road sign. It was nice of that guy to pull over.

There's an alternative route with good roads out of Bellvue we could try if we do it again sometime. To do it you turn right just South of Bellvue onto a road that leads to Springbrook, then right again to Andrew, then South to Maquoketa, then East on 136 from Maquoketa and through Clinton.

I ran my tank dry in Lincoln at 177 actual miles, most of them at 70 mph. Rich's reset of my ECU did the trick! :D

See ya,

Steve

I wish that had been a milk truck. From the odor and brown crusty stuff on the end of the hose, I think it was being used for something post-digestive.
