I know the weather might be iffy. Can we get a show of hand on whos going and if we want to meet up before riding out . If the weathers bad and youd still like to contribute maybe we can meet up for breakfest and take a collection. Then send a rep with the $$$. Just an idea I wanted to throw out there.

I am going. I sent everyone an e-mail a couple of days ago that I copied below. I have not heard anything back as of yet. I must say that I am disappointed. My brothers daughter is being confirmed Sunday. I will go to the ride and pay my donation because I believe it's a great cause and also because a member of our Chapter has worked his ass off putting this together. A group of Cancer victims and spouses have worked a year because they want to help with Cancer Research. Just looked at the weather, partly cloudy and high of 66. If you can not go, meet us at AOR and drop of a donation or Ride out, show your support and leave before the ride (this is what I am doing). OK, I am off my high horse, Thanks
Hey all, Brain Niemi (IVR Arlington Heights member) is having the Gurnee Ride for Life this Sunday! Let's all get out and support this great cause and our riding brother. Registration starts at 9 in Gurnee. Let's plan on leaving Americas Open Road at 8:15, be there at 8 for the pre-ride. Hope to see all of you!!!
Thanks Frank

I spoke with Austin's owner today. He's providing an all-you-can-eat meal: burgers, hotdogs, chicken breasts, and BBQ with sides and chips for $10. Beverages are not included. If you have never been to Austin's, you will like it.
I hope to see some of you there, morning, afternoon or both. If the weather is good, we'll be riding at around 10:30 AM, maybe earlier if we don't get much of a crowd. If the weather is bad, I'll wear a rainsuit and my wife will hold the umbrella.
If you can't make the morning ride at Fatman's, join us at Austin's in Libertyville (Rt 137 just west of Route 21 or east of Route 45) around 1 PM as bikes arrive. Got a tattoo? Enter our Tattoo Contest. You might win a $100 tattoo gift certificate.
Enough of my sales-bitchin'. Wherever you are Sunday, Ride Safe.

PS: We started this venture last year with 9 committee people, 3 cancer survivors. Now, within the past 4 weeks, we have 4 cancer survivors of the 9 members.

Barring thunderstorms, I'll be at AOR at 0800 on the bike. If the weather's too bad, I'll either drive the car there, or ride or drive to Austin's later on. I've checked four different weather report sources ( Accu-weather, Intellicast, NWS, and Chicago Trib, and every one is different (3-1 for showers or storms), so I guess it's 'wait and see'. Don't mind light rain. but riding in thunderstorms sucks. Either way I'll get the check in.

Well done Brian! A great ride, great people, and a great purpose. Kudos and thank you to you and all who helped organize and set it up.

Many thanks go out to all the Victorys that rode with us. We had almost 260 riders and passengers, plus a bunch of awesome Jeep Wranglers. Thanks to your participation and generosity, the Gurnee Ride for Life participants donated over $9000 to the American Cancer Society. In addition, my employer, TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc of Lake Forest donated $4000 to the cause.
Ride safe, and ride often!

Can somebody share when was this forum formed? The date I mean.
It will be a good idea to have an anniversary ride to celebrate. May be a meet to start with?
I know members are scattered, still lets do something different. Friends, we only need an excuse to ride :

Ride safe.

The IVR has three state wide rides each year in addition to participating in several other events. Each chapter also has rides of its own (which are open to everyone). You can find the list of state wide events by clicking the link at the top of the page.
Here are the three state wide rides for 2009:
April 19th Spring Ride
May 23rd IVR Charity Ride (for Kyle Petty's Victory Junction Gang Camp)
September 20th Fall Ride
