Maple park is between Dekalb and Elburn right? But where is the Clubhouse? Is it a bar?

Thanks

The Clubhouse is my renovated Barn. Every since I finished it in 2003 we have been using My place as a central meeting place for rides and meetings and the 3rd floor game room/bar in the Barn has been nicknamed the Clubhouse ever since. I am located on Rt. 38 about 3/4 of a mile east of County Line Rd.

I plan on being there !!

I see that the where is up in the air but any idea as to how long we may ride?

I sent a PM to Mccgator asking about meeting for breakfast in Cherry Valley and then heading down. Anyone else from the Rockford area that wants to grab some eats and head down let me know.

Game room & bar huh...any hard gambling or wild dancing women???

Any Volunteers to plan a route????????? :rightgun:

We can head south toward Starved Rock..is it open year round?
take somonauk rd south to 34, head west till we get to 23, then south on E 17th road (my ex and kids used to live in Serena so I've been down there a few times) That will take us into Ottawa.

just an idea....

Been to Starved Rock more times then I can count. Let's try to find some place new and off the beaten path.

Hey Tim, is the plan to end up back at the club house and if so are you thinking about a post-ride cookout or anything? I think knowing this will help plan the ride.

We should think about starting at a different place, then maybe end at a restaurant and have a late lunch. There are some nice roads all over Illinois in most directions. I think the more we diversify where we meet and where we go the more interesting the ride will be. Just to think out loud, maybe talk to the group in Wisconsin and meet somewhere in the middle?? Lets try and make things more interesting this year.

We can always head up north toward the cheddar curtain.

I like Frank's idea. Their is a group just across the line that is forming Wisconsin's first VMC chapter. Maybe we can meet up with them somewhere for lunch. If no one objects I will send an email to their president and see if they are interested doing something with us.

Jim, We could have the meeting at my place and then meet up with everyone else at a different location. Or we can have the meeting at the place that we pull out of. You know that my place is always open for use and
has been a central meeting location depending on where everyone is coming from. Randy's is a central location as well since it is less than a 1/2 hour north of me. Whatever plan is I will be there. :goofy:

Let's have the meeting at the Club House at 9:30 as planned. Then we can leave at 11:00 and meet up with the new Wisconsin VMC chapter for lunch around 1:00. After lunch we can head back south ending at Randys. I will email Rich (the president of the WI chapter) and see if his chapter wants to meet us for lunch and if so arrange a place. I will then plan a route to get us there and back to Randys. If the WI group can not make lunch we can plan something else.

Looks like we won't be joining the Wisconsin group as they have a meeting that day at a BBQ place in Mequon (between Milwaukee and Port Washington). So I will plan a ride to include a lunch stop then back to the club house.

Depending on the number of riders showing interest why don't we ride one group out of Randys and one out of Tim's we could all meet in Oregon and ride to poopys for lunch. I know its not very original but I don't thhink we have ridden there for a spring ride yet.

Al,
If the rides leave Tim's at 11AM, it will be almost 1PM when they get to Oregon. It's still another hour from there to Poopy's.

Sounds like maybe we should think about the ride leaving earlier if that's what we want to do.

Anyone at all interested in Walneck's Woodstock swap meet? Same day. (also not to be downer, long term weather is calling for rain)

Not that it matters much...but is there a rough bike/people count yet?

Sounds like Gator and I are meeting for small quick breakfast at Cherry Valley Cafe. Anyone is welcome to join. I will post the time sometime next week once you "organizers" get a few things get figured out.

Since Randy's and the clubhouse are fairly close it doesn't sound like it makes much sense to have two seperate groups meeting somewhere besides either Randy's or the clubhouse. But hey....doesn't make a difference to me. But if some folks are going to meet at Randy's and then ride down to the clubhouse please let me know. Then Gator and I can hook up with you there and ride down. Sounds like it would be a bit easier for the two of us rather than trying to find the clubhouse. This is unless someone who knows where the clubhouse is shows up at the cafe for breakfast.

As far as route and destinations I don't know enough about south or southwest of Rockford to plan anything. But get me northwest and I can come up with a TON of routes and places.

Schedule is cleared and I'm ready to ride all day !

If people want to meet at Randy's around 9:00 I will gladly lead the group down to the club house. We can then have our business meeting from 9:30 to 10:30/10:45 with the ride starting at 11:00. I think the best ride option is to take the back roads out to Oregon for lunch. I'll leave it up to Dave to plan a back road ride out to Oregon and to pick a place to eat around there. Depending on the weather we can either extend the ride after lunch or take the highway home.

All IVR members are welcome to attend. If you have not filled out an IVR membership application yet you can at the meeting (note to the secretary: please bring some membership apps and ride waivers). The only requirement is you have to be a current VMC member.

I'm pretty sure we'll stop in Oregon but I'm not sure yet about the Poppy's thing. It depends on if the Chicago guys want to ride that far west. I'm hoping some of them will speak up and let us know.

http://www.poopys.com/

Time depends on route, using google maps it says about 2 hours. That would be a straight shot up to IL64 and straight West, it shows it about 90 miles. That may seem like a long time but if I remember there are a few small towns with low speed limits.

I am still contemplating this ride, the domestic schedule that weekend hasn't been finalized.

Thanks Don. She's actually been gone since October of last year but my wife and her sister have been very slow dealing with getting rid of her personal stuff. And I brought stuff back from Florida when I went for bike week. They are participating in a garage sale that weekend and from there the left overs are going to a charity. I'm seizing the day to push doing it all so it's over once and for all.

I really don't want to do a highway run. I would rather an easy back road ride through the countryside. I think we should stick with Oregon.

When the weather gets warmer and we can start earlier we can ride to Poppys for lunch then. Bring it up at the meeting, maybe we can ride there for the charity ride next month.

Those who are interested can always head on over to Poopy's after lunch. By the way, where in Oregon is lunch. I don't know if there is a whole lot to choose from on a Sunday. Byron might offer more.

Right now I am looking to bringing myself and possibly 4 or 5 others who want to tag along on the ride. If anyone is interested in joining we will be meeting at the truck stop in Dixon on south Rte. 26 out across from Walmart. Planning to leave about 8:00 am or shortly thereafter to make the clubhouse by 9:30.

Messie's is a biker friendly bar and grill in Oregon that is right next to the Rock River.

Of bigger concern is the weather forecast which right now is calling for rain on both Saturday and Sunday.

vic767
04-14-2009, 01:43 PM
That will work. Now we need a witch doctor to chase the rain away. Still plenty of time for a change in the forecast.

BigJim

The forecast (for Oregon) is starting to look a little better:

High: 54 °F
Mostly cloudy; chance for a couple of showers, breezy and cooler

daveltb
04-15-2009, 07:29 PM
Starting to look like it might be warmer than was forecasted earlier in the week. 32 mph gusts.... but only 16% chance of thunderstorms.

Well...they are still calling for rain showers on Sunday. Saying there is pretty much 100% chance of rain thru the whole day. I never really trust the forecasters, but when they go to the 100% mark you don't have much choice.

So when is the decision made to revert to the "Rain Date" of April 26th?

SIDECAR
04-17-2009, 03:24 PM
Due to the Forcast calling for almost 100% rain on Sunday the Spring Ride on the 19th is canceled and moved to the 26th rain date.

Tim, I saw in another thread that you won't be able to make it on the 26th and the clubhouse won't be available. Is that the case? I hadn't seen anything from you on the topic and thought it was worth confirming.
