Plans anyone?

Our Chapter is organizing itself much the same as you guys are, and are getting details together on 2004 'official club rides' and this is one of 'em.

Basically, I had assumed that the Mrs and I will leave thurdsay July 22 in the afternoon and hook up with whomever in Illinois will allow us to crash, and then head north on Friday.

Just curious if you guys had given it much thought yet.

Hey t, I'm planning on the same, leaving here friday and heading north that is. At this time I don't think we're going to Spirit Lake to ride up with AMASS(mess), proly be there a waiting for em to tool on in. Got yer room reserved if ya like. As a group we haven't talked much on the particulars. You got reservations in Minnesota yet?

Daffy,

Count us in for the reservations. I believe we have reservations at the same place for Friday and Saturday. How long of a trip is it from your ranch?

(btw, i know i still owe you a phone call)

sidecar,

I thought about heading to spirit lake and doing the ride, but will prolly go straight up. I think there'll be several from Indy that want to go to Spirit Lake first. If it's ok with you, when time gets closer, I'll direct them your way.

Any chance of all of us heading back up to that cool bar and letting me buy you the yard of beer this time? (we'll be on 4 wheels, i'm pretty sure...).

t,
according to mapquest 395 miles, so a nice day, tween now and then I'll look over a map and see if we got a more scenic ride than the slab for at least some of the ride eh?
don't sweat the call if it was really important ya know you'd have heard from me by now. getting cold out getting ready to strip the vic of some parts for the shiney transformation and an airbox change. (might be some paint bought if the overtime gods come through;) )

Daffy,

We have about 300 miles between us and you. Does that sound right? How long does it usually take you guys to get here?

We may have time for a dinner and drink at your favorite local establishment Thursday night.

Best of luck with the shiny stuff and the paint. Can't remember what all you wanted to have chromed. Seems that you gotta chrome big pieces on the Vic to make a noticable difference. Should be interesting!

I'm still debating on the Sporty. My available time says it can be fixed with a For Sale sign. But, I still dream that one day I can put the time and money into it to make it an old school chopper.

t,
300 sounds about right, what little bit of memory I've got that works, neighborhood of 5 hours rings a bell. Any idea of numbers coming with ya?

thanks for the motel info.

i see us Michigan's taking an Upper Peninsula route to "the cities". so Spirit Lake is a pretty strong no for us i would think.

the "American Victory Rally" (which we all just kinda call "Spirit Lake") will not be a go this year - at least to the scope of last year's. all goes as planned we should be back in 2005.
the Spirit Lake/AVR as far as i know will be the VMC's future "Meet in the Middle" event.

suggested to VMC the 2004 V2V could alter course, take a northeast slant to include the PolParty.
and in future years veer to Spirit for SL/AVR/MITM. but i don't think those dogs will hunt.

was asked to chair a comm re: VMC & the PolParty ........ but me thinks i'm gonna ride instead of plan this year.

friday & saturday at the motel 8 in Roseville it is.

Daffy,

Sorry, but I've idea how many will be joining us. We may not be on the same travel schedule as the main group heading out west. I'm guessing the 'main group' will be riding to Spirit Lake and then riding with the herd up to the big party.

Okay, We've made reservations also at the Super 8 in Roseville for Friday & Saturday nights. We will meet up with all of you on Friday morning.....to go north for the ride. Lisa said she'd rather just ride with all the people we know versus riding out to Spirit Lake with others. Anyway, when the time gets closer we can get our plans together.

I definately will be making the trip. I've never been to Spirit Lake, so I'd like to do that if anybody else is going. If not, I'll just ride up with T Thursday.

you may have seen in the Vic (VRA) newsletter that the rumored group ride from Spirit Lake to the Cities is now scheduled for Friday, not Saturday.
there is also talk of the American Victory Rally being held Wed, & Thurs, then ride out Friday.
i say "talk" mostly because Bill Wymer, the SL dealer who was instrumental in organizing last year's AVR found out about it the same way most of you did ........ in the newsletter. ain't that a kick in the ass.
Bill, Rick (SL Vic plant) and i decided post 2003 AVR that we would take a sabatical in 2004, put our organizing energy to the Polaris 50th Party and resume the SL-AVR in 2005.
i had found out just days B 4 the newsletter via email from VicCorp about the Wed/Thurs/Fri SL deal - all they knew was what, i think, Rick told them.
Bill Wymer and i are to talk more this week. i will also contact VicCorp , again, to see what they know not only about SL, but more importantly the activities in the Cities. the VicCorp folks were to "try and discuss it at Daytona".

personally i don't see a big future for a Wed & Thurs in Spirit Lake event. i do see it as a logical meeting/lodging spot for riders coming that way for the next morning's ride into the Cities - not on Friday, but Saturday morning.

so ........... key folks in the mix don't have a clue. me, as "Polaris 50th CommChair for VMC included. i keep asking VicCorp for info with a position that "the VMC can get folks there". they just don't have the Cities activities planned yet.

all i do know is a MI, OH & ? group will take a northern route via the UP and WI and arrive Friday at the Super 8 in Roseville - where we will meet up with the IL & IN group(s) and others - and have fun.
we have experience in motel parking lot parties:D

promise to pass on what i know when i know it.
